This past week, STgenetics® was honored to receive the American Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) Performance Breeder of the Year award. This award is presented to an ABBA member who successfully utilizes the ABBA performance programs in the pursuit of improving the breed.
STgenetics® was chosen by a selection committee for this award based on their participation in programs, record system and implementation, technology use, goals, improvements made through implementation of programs and contributions to the breed and industry. Adelyn Allen, STgenetics® Beef Operations Manager, Gustavo Toro, STgenetics® Director of Beef Support Services and Eddy Valenzuela, STgenetics® Brahman Herd Manager, were on hand to receive the award at the ABBA Annual Meeting held last week in Texas.
Along with their annual meeting, the ABBA hosted the 2025 International Brahman Show in Houston. STgenetics® Brahman sires performed well at the show with MR. WCC 296/8 siring the Grand & Junior Champion Red Female: MISS WCC ROSALITA 560/3, owned by Rhett Owen Fontenot.
MR. WCC 296/8 also sired the winner of Class #2 & Calf Champion Red Female: MISS HC VENUS 236/4 owned by Payton Neal Herzog and the winner of Class #8 MISS RF EMIE ROSE 10/4 owned by Leighton Camille Fontenot
JDH KING OF CLUBS MANSO 784/4 sired the Class #9 2nd place animal MISS WCC 594/4 owned by Rhett Owen Fontenot.
STgenetics® also held the 7th Annual STgenetics® & HK Cattle Spring Production Sale on March 9th at the Genetic Development Center (GDC) in Navasota, Texas. The event started with the Cattleman’s Strategy, a field day for cattleman interested in genomics, feed efficiency, cattle evaluation and other ways to strategically plan future calf crops. The event also included presentations on Vision+™ use within the Brahman breed, top sire and female award presentations, dinner and the sale.
As a company, STgenetics® was excited to be a part of the International Brahman Show as a sponsor and host the event at the GDC and honored to be recognized with the Performance Breeder of the Year award.
