STgenetics® is now Genetics Australia distributor in NZ

STgenetics® New Zealand, part of livestock genetics leader and innovator STgenetics® global network, is now the exclusive distributor for genetics from Genetics Australia after the two companies signed an agreement today.

The agreement includes all bulls owned and marketed by Genetics Australia, with the exception of a few animals already distributed by a separate third party under a previously existing agreement.

“Genetics Australia’s exceptional genetics complement well STgenetics® New Zealand’s world-leading research, technology and innovation to provide New Zealand dairy farmers with integrated solutions for increased profitability in an environmentally sustainable manner,” said Rudolph Linde, Senior Director for Sales and Operations with STgenetics® New Zealand. “Genetics Australia’s elite bull line-up will enhance STgenetics® New Zealand’s outstanding offerings and provide New Zealand dairy farmers with a diverse offering of predominantly pasture based genetics, allowing dairy farmers to create exceptional future generation females suited to perform well in New Zealand’s diverse farming systems”.

Linde noted that the agreement also offers New Zealand dairy producers increased access to A2A2 and polled genetics across multiple breeds without sacrificing overall genetic merit concerning their current selection parameters.

An impressive beef/dairy beef portfolio is also part of the agreement, giving New Zealand beef producers as well as dairy farmers increased access to a wide range of suitable dairybeef/beef solutions from some of Australia’s most successful studs.

Genetics Australia CEO Anthony Shelly said he was pleased that STgenetics® New Zealand had recognised the quality of the Australian genetics and the benefits of developing bulls in a predominately pasture-based system.

“Australia’s willingness to infuse the world best genetics without sacrificing key profit-driven traits such as fertility, feed efficiency and mastitis resistance has really benefitted Australian dairy producers,” Shelly said. “To partner with a world leader in STgenetics® and offer genetics from Australia’s internationally recognised evaluation system will give New Zealand producers greater access to genetics that will add to profitability across many farming systems”.

As a result of the agreement, STgenetics® New Zealand relocated its headquarters to Hamilton, the heart of Waikato dairy country, and closed its former headquarters in Rolleston. The new address is Unit 3/123 Ingram Road, Rukuhia, Hamilton, and can be reached by phone at 07 827 5173 or 0800 357 164. Genetics Australia will close its New Zealand operations.

Existing STgenetics® New Zealand and Genetics Australia customers in New Zealand will receive communication containing more information about how this agreement will affect their trading relationships.
