Vision+™ genomic test for the Ayrshire breed

U.S. Ayrshire Breeders' Association partners with STgenetics® to offer genomic testing

STgenetics® is pleased to announce their partnership with the U.S. Ayrshire Breeders’ Association to offer Vision+75™ genomic testing through Genetic Visions-ST™ to all their breeders around the U.S. The Vision+75™ genomic test offers a comprehensive genetic profile by testing over 75 traits, including 53 for production, health and longevity, conformation and selection indices and includes four protein markers, 18 other genetic markers and parentage discovery.

This is just the latest in an agreement between the two organizations to assist in the genetic advancement of the Ayrshire breed. Earlier this year, the U.S. Ayrshire Breeders’ Association and STgenetics® through its lab, Genetic Visions-ST™, introduced a stand-alone genomic test to identify the fatal genetic defect, Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM) or Curly Calf Syndrome. Affected calves are born with stiffness and/or deformities in joints and are either stillborn or die shortly after birth. As part of the genomic testing offering, STgenetics® will include the AM marker test with all U.S. Ayrshire Vision+75™ tests.
